International
Communications (International Relations Majors)
This course is designed to help you recognize the diversity
within our global environment and to help you develop the
skills and awareness needed to understand and interact successfully
within the international community. You will learn appropriate
terms and concepts needed for effectively communicating
about cultural values, current events, world issues and
the demographics of diverse nations and cultures.
Global
Issues (Business, Economics and Law Majors)
This course is designed to help you examine the issue of
population, resource consumption, national and international
conflicts, and poverty throughout the world and to discover
the ways they are interconnected. Activities will include
discussion, reading, research, web site activities, and
watching videos. You will be given a research assignment
based on your major field of study.
TOEIC
Preparation
You will learn about the different
parts of the TOEIC and analyze the types of questions and
answer choices that are included in the test. You will learn
and practice the various grammar structures and vocabulary
items that are likely to be tested. This practice will be
done through interactive activities that will help you learn
and remember the items taught. There will be activities
to help improve listening comprehension and to practice
grammar structures in specially designed websites on the
Internet. You will take practice tests to help you identify
areas you need to study the most. You will also be given
many useful hints and strategies for taking the test so
that you can be prepared academically, mentally, and physically.
Sports
and Recreation
The purpose of this class is to encourage you to participate
in lifetime activities that promote social interaction and
healthy attitudes about exercise for enjoyment and recreation.
Depending on the cycle, you may choose classes such as racquetball,
golf, basketball, tennis, Yoga, volleyball, aerobics, softball,
and soccer. You wil also improve skills in English by attending
many of these classes with American students.
